Mgr. Jan Semík
Managing PartnerJan graduated from the Faculty of Law of Charles University in Prague in 2008. He then worked as an articling attorney with a focus on general law and attorney practice.
At the end of 2011, he successfully passed the bar exams and became an attorney at Mesthene & Partner. He has been working in attorney practice for ten years, since his studies at the Faculty of Law, when he completed a work placement at a law firm as an assistant lawyer. It was already as an articling attorney that Jan successfully established himself as a lawyer in the field of debt recovery.
His practice is mainly focused on commercial and civil law, including representation in court proceedings. Jan particularly deals with commercial obligation law, corporate law and insolvency proceedings. In his practice, he also focuses on the emerging field of power engineering, software law and personal data protection, but he also deals with the issues of real estate, housing and unit owners associations. As part of his attorney activity, Jan also publishes professional legal articles. In 2015, Jan was second in the Talent of the Year category of the judiciary-wide competition Lawyer of the Year 2015.
JUDr. Hana Mesthene
AttorneyHana graduated from the Faculty of Law of Charles University in Prague in 1990 and then worked for Lederer & Zempliner Consulting, a consortium based in Prague, until 2000. In 2003, she began her career in the attorney’s profession.
She founded her own law firm specialized in corporate law and comprehensive legal services for mergers and acquisitions in 2004. She gained professional experience in these areas in her previous extensive legal practice and gradually also expanded her scope of focus on legal services for real estate and development projects, civil law issues, criminal law and family law, including international elements.
At present, Hana deals with commercial and corporate law, and is a specialist in mediating amicable settlement of disputes. Hana is one of the first mediators certified by the Czech and the Brussels Bar Association, is active in mediation and participates in the promotion of this new institute in the Czech law. As part of her attorney activity, Hana also publishes professional legal articles.
JUDr. Antonín Hedrlín Ph.D.
collaborating attorneyAntonín graduated from the Faculty of Law of Charles University in Prague in 1992. In 2003, he completed postgraduate studies and defended a dissertation on property ownership.
Antonín gained legal experience in České Budějovice and Prague, working as a lawyer at Czech Airlines and as an articling attorney at JUDr. František Gebauer’s law firm. In 1998, he became a lawyer at HBO Czech Republic, where he was responsible for the entire portfolio of legal services offered by the company. From 2000, Antonín held the position of General Counsel HBO in Central Europe, where he was responsible for all of HBO’s legal and regulatory activities in Central Europe. Since 2003, he has been working as a lawyer specialized in media law and intellectual property law, especially copyright law.
Antonín has many years of experience in television broadcasting and production of audio-visual works, especially films and documentaries. Antonín also provides his clients with comprehensive services in corporate law, commercial law and labour law. His clients include both world leaders in media and smaller corporate clients. Antonín is a meritorious member of the Czech Electronic Communications Association and a member and honorary chairman of its supervisory board. Antonín regularly participates in conferences dealing with electronic communications and media as a speaker, both in the Czech Republic and abroad. He also participates in working groups at the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic, drafting and amending laws in the field of television broadcasting or copyright, and has experience in the legislative process.
JUDr. Marie Semíková
attorneyMarie graduated from the Faculty of Law of Charles University in Prague in 1974. She then worked as a company lawyer at the Regional Investment Section in Prague. From 1992, she was Head of the Building Code Department at the Prague-West District Office.
She started her independent activity as a commercial lawyer in 1995, and since 1996 she has worked as an attorney specialized in civil law, real estate law and building law. Subsequently, she expanded her practice to include provision of legal advice in the field of public higher education, focusing in particular on public procurement, preparation of internal legal documents and contractor/client contractual area.
Based on many years of unique experience in public education, Marie provides comprehensive legal advice to leading universities in the Czech Republic, particularly in public procurement, including preparation of relevant documents. She also uses her invaluable knowledge for these institutions in preparing internal legislation and model draft administrative decisions, including representation in courts or supervisory authorities of public administration.
Mgr. Nika Opitzová
collaborating attorneyNika graduated from the Faculty of Law of Charles University in 2018. She started her practice as a legal assistant in a law firm while still studying. Between 2019 and 2022, she worked in a law firm as a paralegal. After successfully passing the bar exam at the end of 2022, she continues to work with the law firm as am attorney.
Already during her studies at the Faculty of Law of Charles University, she completed practice in law offices as a legal assistant. During her studies, in addition to practice at a law firm, she also participated in an internship at the Public Defender of Rights and at the Constitutional Court of the Czech Republic.
As part of her practice, Nika focuses mainly on the issue of owners association, lease of residential and non-residential premises, labor law, issues of personal data protection and transfers of real estate property. She also specializes in the field of school law, including the issue of establishing private schools, preparing documentation for the school's activities and the school's procedure in deciding on rights and obligations in the field of state administration. Last but not least, she deals with the common agenda of debt collection and criminal law, including representation in criminal proceedings.
